Adam Edelbi Proposal: Mixed Techniques
1) Proposal Statement:
- For my project, I plan to make a game device for a card game I play called Magic the Gathering. I want the device to include space to store my deck, space to store dice and extra card tokens, and some way to keep track of my life total.
2) Advise:
- I mainly spoke to Dawson about this project idea. He advised me on what I should do for the mechanism to keep track of my life total. He showed me a pill holder he had that adjusted with a clicker and told me I could use something similar as the mechanism to keep track of the life total. He also told me I could find designs online to be 3D printed for the life total. Here are some images of potential mechanisms I could try to make for the life count:
3) Rough Game Plan
- I plan to separate this project into 2 parts: the wooden part and the life counter. The wooden part I plan to design in fusion and have the entire thing done by the CNC machine since I will need very precise cuts to hold the dice, etc. As for the life counter, I plan on either designing it myself or finding a design online to be printed by the 3D printers. I will make sure to add a place in the wooden part to hold the life counter so that once they are both complete, I just have to join the part together to finish the project. Also, depending on the design I go with for the life counter, I will either need to use the CNC machine or the 3D printer. In order to fulfill the project requirements, if both parts of my project use the CNC I will incorporate the laser cutter to print some cool designs on the project,4) Needs
- The two most important things I need for this project are the fusion designs for the two parts. As for the materials needed, wood will be fine as well as the material used in the 3D printers. I will need to use some sort of screw on the life counter so that the life numbers can be adjusted back and forth; I am still not sure what I will use for this since it will need to be very small. Overall, the biggest part of the project is making sure that my fusion designs are accurate, as well as having a detailed process for each of the steps Im going to take.

Very cool. I'd give advice but you seem to have a frim grip on the process and material needs. I look forward to seeing how it turns out.
